It Matters Who You Marry

I want to give a little shout out to Dan this week. We’ve been through a lot over the last couple of months and there’s been a lot of grief. I’ve probably been a little difficult to be around sometimes as I try to manage my emotions, but he hasn’t left my side once. If I had to go through it with anyone, I’m so glad it’s with him.

I think it can sometimes be easy to fall apart when life throws curveball after curveball at you, and it can often force a wedge between you and your partner. But even though there’s been a lot of heartbreak lately, Dan and I still manage to smile, to joke around and laugh together, to get out and do things together, and to just generally go about our lives as we always have. He’s still – and will always be – my favorite person to be around.

You hear all the time, “it matters who you marry,” and that couldn’t be truer. Amongst the never-ending list of things I love about him, he is a lot more level-headed than I sometimes am, and during hard times, he brings an overwhelming sense of peace to my life. Even when he’s hurting just as much as I am, he still has this way about him that makes me believe everything is going to be okay.

I told my mom just last weekend that I won the lottery with this man, and I truly mean it. I’ve never felt more loved, cared for, or cherished. I don’t know what I did to deserve him, but I’m not about to start questioning it.

So, thank you Dan, for not only being the best husband, but for just being an all-around wonderful person. I don’t know what I would do without you, and I’m so thankful to have you in my life.

I wanted to share some pictures, but I had to scroll back pretty far in my phone to find any of him – he’s not a fan of having his picture taken! Instead, I’ll use the opportunity to share some more wedding pictures. 🙂

It truly matters who you marry, folks. If your partner isn’t there for you at your worst, they don’t deserve you at your best. It goes both ways – keep that in mind!

Until next time! 🙂
