When we’re not at the farm, we’ve been busy working on home improvement projects. It’s been busy, and a slow-going process, but progress is progress!
A couple of years ago, Dan painted the living room while I was on a work trip, and it was a wonderful surprise to come home to. The living room is probably my favorite room in the house. We spend most of our time there and it’s really become so warm and cozy.

Last summer we were finally able to get our patio redone. It was in dire need of repair, especially since some of Dan’s flowers started growing through the cracks and he said he was just going to let them grow until we had it fixed. It looked like we had a mini jungle in our backyard.

Last weekend, we tackled some more painting projects. We painted our hallway, and then my dad spent Father’s Day helping us paint our kitchen – thanks again Dad! It was a long weekend, but it was overdue. We had the paint for at least two years, so there was no more putting it off.

Our kitchen was brown before we painted it. Not as dark of a brown as the living room was, but it definitely feels lighter now after we painted it. It had a bunch of dings in the wall, so I really can’t get over how much nicer it looks now.

Our basement has been on an ongoing project for quite some time now. It’s a mess down there, so I didn’t take any “during” pictures, but here’s a before picture:

We finally cracked and had our basement tiled, and thankfully we haven’t had any more flooding issues, but putting the basement back together and fixing the water damage has been a process. Eventually, I’ll have some after pictures for that too.
Our house is little and needs a lot of work yet, but I love everything about it. We’ve turned it into a home and lots of memories have been made here. And we’ll make many more while we’re here! Home improvement is all part of being a homeowner, so bring on the projects!
Until next time! 🙂
