Cheers to 32!

My birthday is coming up on the 22nd – yay! I still love my birthday. I guess I haven’t quite hit the age yet where I don’t love it anymore lol.

This week I was thinking about the post I wrote for my 29th birthday about my 30 things I’d like to do before I turned 30. If you’d like to check it out and refresh your memory, you can click on the button below.

The next year, I followed up on that post and talked about all the things on my list I was able to accomplish. Below is the link to THAT post if you’d like to check it out.

I started thinking about it again this week, wondering if I had accomplished anything else on my list in the last two years. I thought it would be kind of fun to do a recap of the items that I hadn’t done by the time I turned 30, and see if I’d gotten around to doing it by now or not. If I was able to check it off before I was 30, I’m not going to mention it in this post.

First on the list: get a tattoo. Sorry to report, I still haven’t gotten a tattoo – my dad is probably taking a big sigh of relief lol. I’m still tempted to get one, don’t get me wrong. I just haven’t figured out exactly what I want. I do think if I’m going to get one, it’s going to mean something pretty special to me. If it’s going to be on my body forever, I want to make it something good. So, we’ll see!

Next: stop holding grudges. Honestly, I do think I’ve gotten a lot better at this one. I do feel like I’m becoming a lot more carefree as I get older, and it’s a lot easier to let things go. I’m still far from perfect, but I’m not really losing sleep over little things like I used to.

Spend less time on social media. If I had written this post a month ago, I would have said I was nailing it, but I’ve fallen down that slippery slope again and I’ve found myself doom scrolling much longer than I need to. I either need to set a timer on my phone or get a little more disciplined about it. It would be so much better not only for my mentality, but for my productivity if I were to limit my time on the social media channels.

I’m going to skip around a little on the list just because the last one leads into these next two: make more time for writing and finish my third novel. If I would quit the doom scrolling, I’d probably have so much more time to sit down and write. I was just thinking about this a few weeks ago. I HAVE the time to write, but I am not MAKING time for it. It makes me a little sad with myself that I’ve been working on book #3 for at least 3 years now and I’m still nowhere near finished. I am 95 pages into it though, which I know is farther than where I was before I turned 30. Maybe my new goal should be to try and finish it before I’m 40…

Plant a tree. Does it count if Dan planted a tree?? I’m going to count it – I was there for moral support. 🙂

Learn to drive a combine or work ground. Y’all! Dan DID let me drive the combine last year! I only got to do two rows, and it was actually kind of terrifying, but I did it! I’ve got a long ways to go before I’d ever do it on my own though lol.

Learn how to make a pie. I can’t believe I haven’t done this one yet. My mom is retiring in a few weeks though, so we’ll have to sit down soon and make it happen.

Shoot my first buck. I did get my first buck last fall! It was super fun. I almost didn’t take a shot at it. Dan told me it was up to me if I wanted to take a chance or wait for something bigger. But it was literally the only buck we saw the whole season, so I’m glad I went for it!

Convince Dan to take me coyote hunting with him. We had a nice long chat about this one and it’s definitely not happening – and I’m okay with it! Dan said if I were to go with them on their trips, I’d have to go to the bathroom outside and I’m not a fan of that idea. So, I’ll stay home with my indoor plumbing, thank you. 🙂

Swim again. Aw man, I haven’t done this one either. I think it’s time I dust out my cap and goggles and get some laps in! Hopefully I still remember how.

Well, I obviously have some room for growth yet, but it’s awesome I was able to check a few more things off that list. Year 31 was a good one, but I’m ready to leave it behind and bring on year 32. I know it can only go up from here, so I’m excited to see what’s in store.

Until next time! 🙂
