Happy Harvest Season!

Happy harvest season y’all! It’s been a dry summer, so it’s starting a bit earlier for some, including Dan.

It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks and I’m not going to see a whole lot of him until he’s done, which always sucks, but luckily he can still answer phone calls from the combine so I make sure to bother him a few times a day. 😉

I do want to take a moment to say how proud of Dan I am. Ever since his dad passed away, farming for him has been a one man show. And while Dan always helped his dad growing up, there were some things that he didn’t know how to do when he had to take over full time by himself.

I watched him that first year he was on his own and I know how stressful it was for him, but he’s learned so much since then and has come such a long way. He’s built up the farm to be something that will continue to last for generations, and it’s fun to see how passionate he is about finding ways to make it even better yet.

Although I wish I had the time and ability to be there with him the entire harvest season, I’m glad I’m able to help him on weekends or make meals he can take with him. And like I said earlier, I can still call and keep him company the whole time haha!

Anyway, I hope all you farmers out there have a successful harvest season! May the weather cooperate and the breakdowns be few and far between. And then enjoy a few months of “downtime” before planting season commences in the spring.

Happy harvest!

Until next time! 🙂
