Swimming Through Life

A personal blog and author site

Here’s to Five Years of Blogging!

This weekend is Swimming Through Life’s 5th birthday. That’s right – I’ve been blogging for FIVE whole years now! It’s kind of crazy to think it’s been that long already. Time flies when you’re having fun!

I’ve shared a lot of stuff with all of you. Some of it good, some of it bad. Some highs, some lows. Some useless information, and some that’s actually sort of helpful. I really have quite a variety! I’ve been able to help talk through some tough stuff with some of you, and I’ve been able to share excitement with some as well.

All of you have also helped me in many ways, from sharing grilling secrets to putting my mind at ease about having children, and everything in between. It has definitely been a journey.

I went through many of my past blog posts this week in preparation for this, and I wanted to share five posts that were the most memorable for me. If you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, go check them out again – or maybe it’s the first time you’re seeing them! That’s cool too!

 Adopt Don’t Shop: https://meganreiffenberger.com/2019/11/16/632/m

This was one of the first blogs I wrote when I first brought Dobby home. It’s a wonderful memory, and just thinking about how far he’s come since that first day, makes me so so happy that I could rescue this sweet boy.

If It’s Meant to Be, It will be: https://meganreiffenberger.com/2019/12/06/if-its-meant-to-be-it-will-be/

This blog post holds a special place in my heart because after one of my friends read this, he said he wanted to set me up with a buddy of his. And guess what!? Three plus years later, I now live with that buddy of his and I’m head over heels for him! I’ll forever be thankful for that.

Five Signs of a Toxic Relationship: https://meganreiffenberger.com/2021/03/05/five-signs-of-a-toxic-relationship/

Admittedly, I find myself thinking about this blog post more than I should. This one was really hard to write and this was probably the most vulnerable I’ve ever gotten on this platform. I find myself struggling with these memories a lot, but the support I got after I opened up about it meant the world to me. I hope anyone who reads this one and finds themselves in a similar situation finds the strength to walk away from their toxic situation.

Surreal Feeling: https://meganreiffenberger.com/2021/06/26/surreal-feeling/

This one is a great memory because I finally published my first book! The feeling I got after I held my first manuscript in my hands and the overwhelming amount of support I got, it felt so incredibly good. This was definitely a happy memory.

Week in Alaska: https://meganreiffenberger.com/2022/03/19/week-in-alaska/

And finally, I really enjoyed going back through and reading the post about our trip to Alaska last year. Dan and I haven’t taken many trips together, but we’ve tried to go on one vacation each year and this one so far has been my favorite – Yellowstone and Grand Tetons was a close second, but Alaska really is hard to beat. Even Dan can’t wait to go back someday, and it’s hard to get this guy to go anywhere that’s not the farm or a hunting trip! 😂

I’ve really enjoyed sharing small parts of my life and experiences with all of you over the last five years, and I can’t wait to keep doing it. Even if people eventually lose interest, I’m dedicated to the challenge of writing something each week and seeing what I can come up with. I’ve said before that if nothing else, this blog just gives me a reason to practice my writing – that’s the whole reason I started it after all!

I’ll admit there are some weeks where it is hard to come up with something good to write about – I can only make my life sound SO interesting lol. If there’s ever anything you want to hear about, feel free to shoot me some ideas. I don’t claim to be an expert on anything, but if you want my opinion or my take on something I’m more than happy to share it!

Anyway, thank you to all of you who take the time to read my blogs every week. I know there are a lot of other things to read and probably a million other ways to spend a Saturday morning, but thank you for sharing a few minutes with me. I appreciate the support!

Until next time! 🙂
