Northern Prairie Arts Feature

This week, I was honored as the featured artist of the month for the Northern Prairie Arts Council. It all stemmed from my book signing at DDR Books this last fall. After the event, I left several signed copies with the store, and the guy who is in charge of finding talent for the NPA artist feature went in there asking if they knew of any authors who would be interested in being honored.

And apparently they gave him one of my signed copies and said nothing but good things about me and my book! So, he went and read the book and liked it enough to reach out to me and see if it would be something I’d be interested in doing – I obviously said yes!

So, in order to prepare for the event and get the word out, I was on the radio three times this week to talk about the book. I’ve never been on the radio before, and to do it three times in one week was pretty cool! I was on KXLG on Tuesday morning and two different segments on Watertown Radio Wednesday morning. All three of the interviews were different and each one was better than the last. I kind of felt like a local celebrity for a while! 😂

The actual event itself was Thursday evening over Facebook live. It used to be held at Dempsey’s, but has still been virtual since covid started. But it was still fun virtual.

Lawrence Diggs was the interviewer for the evening and he was a pretty cool guy to talk to. He called me a few hours before the show to prepare me for what we would be talking about, and said he was obviously going to ask about the book, but said he wanted to focus on the audience getting to know me. If they get to know me, they might relate to me more and be more inclined to check out my work.

I really do think the interview went well! He asked some very thoughtful questions, and even though I was nervous, and tend to get a little tongue tied when I’m nervous, I answered to the best of my ability. And it was crazy how fast time flew! I remember when he started wrapping up and I looked at the clock and was shocked that we had been talking for over an hour already!

If you were able to watch it live, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to listen. If you weren’t able to catch it, I shared the recording to my personal facebook page, or you can look up the Arts Night at the Pub facebook page and see it there. Even if you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, but want to take a peek, that’s cool too! It was a lot of fun, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to do it.

Also, as a brief book update, there isn’t a whole lot of news to share, but I’m almost done with the first round of reviews and edits and hoping to get book number two sent off to an editor VERY soon!

Thanks again to everyone who supported me and reached out with kind words this week! I appreciate all of your support more than you know.

Until next time! 🙂
