Big Week for Sink or Swim!
Another weekend, another book event! Today, DDR Books in Watertown was nice enough to welcome me into their store for a book presentation and signing. I did my best to spread the word and tell people about it, but even so, I didn’t get my hopes up that it would be a very big event. And it wasn’t, but that’s totally okay! I’m still in good spirits about it, and definitely don’t regret taking the time to go.
I did have a little group of five people come in and hear my story about how I started writing and the process it took to get me where I am today. They asked some questions, and one person even stuck around afterward and we chatted for quite some time about life. He was a very nice guy, and turns out he used to work with my parents. Shouldn’t be surprised of that in a town like Watertown! But it was nice to sit and chat with him for a while. I even chatted with Donus, the owner of the store during this time as well, and I had talked with him before today, but I didn’t realize how awesome he was! He’s an older gentleman if you haven’t met him before, and he has so many cool stories to tell. He’s met TONS of celebrities just by being in the right place at the right time, and he even personally knew John Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy. This guy has lived a cool life.

The best part I got out of today was when I was talking to him, and he told me he read my book, and after talking to me and hearing my story, he knew I was willing to work hard and learn through the progress I’ve made. He said he really enjoyed me being there today and knew I was going places. I almost teared up. It really meant a lot that he said that, and after hearing all the things HE has experienced in his own life, it was just really cool to hear that.
Earlier this week, a running friend of mine also asked if I would talk to her 6th grade class about how to write a book, so I zoomed into her class and told my story there as well, and answered a lot of questions they had. A couple of them asked to read a story they wrote to me for feedback which was pretty cool! They were a couple of talented little writers! My friend told me when we hung up, they immediately went to work on writing stories, which felt pretty darn good!
So, overall, it was a good weekend for Sink or Swim, and now I get to have some little baby snuggles with Connor to unwind. Can’t complain about that!

Until next time! 🙂
