This week, I’m here to tell you all the reasons why summer is the best season of all:
- It’s not.
Haha totally kidding, I do like summer, but I don’t like the heat. I’m not so secretly looking forward to some cooler fall temps.
However, once I look past the blistering heat, I do enjoy summer activities. It’s nice going for a run without 20 layers on – we just have to make sure we go nice and early while it’s somewhat cool! And it is nice to be out walking the dog and not freeze my fingers and toes off too.
One summer activity I never thought I would enjoy so much is fishing. Dan’s been going out fishing a little more this summer and I’ve gotten to tag along the last couple of times. I’m not going to lie, I actually really, really enjoy it! We’ve gone in the evenings, so the worst of the heat would be gone, and the sun is going down in front of us. It’s nice to either sit and chat while we cast our lines, or just soak in the nature around us. It’s been very peaceful and a nice little break from reality.
Dan’s also been super patient with me, since the last time I went fishing I’m pretty sure I was like seven years old lol. I was not very familiar with how to properly cast a line or how to take a fish off the hook, but he’s showing me the ropes. And at least for now, he’s okay with continuing to take the fish off the hook for me. 🙂 I now have my own pair of waders, and Dan was excited that he finally had a reason to bring out the new fishing pole he’d gotten a few years ago.
I love that I can add fishing to the list of new things I’ve gotten to try since I’ve met Dan, and I’m okay with the summer heat sticking around for a while yet if that means we can get out there a few more times.

I also love a hobby that produces some good food out of it too – we fried up some fish that we caught earlier this week and they were pretty tasty! I live to eat, and I don’t mind putting in a little effort to get that food either. Plus this is WAY more fun than grocery shopping!
Anyway, I’m making the most of what’s left of summer, and I’m looking forward to some more nights like this.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and staying safe in all these crazy storms we’ve been having lately!
Until next time! 🙂
