Starting to Feel Like Summer!

It may not officially be summer yet, but Mother Nature certainly turned up those temps this week! It was hot and humid during the day, but it was very nice in the evenings, and I had to take full advantage of it.

Just about every night this week, Dan and I were out with the dogs, kayaking and letting them swim around to cool off. Dobby tried to make an escape twice, and my poor neighbors probably hate us now, so he is now learning to swim on the leash! He\’s getting a bit better at it, but he\’s still splashing so much he can\’t see where he\’s going. I tried getting in the water again and holding onto him to take him out deeper, but that didn\’t last very long. He\’s a little hesitant to go out very deep, and the water is still really, really cold, so I didn\’t want to be in there very long! Carter however, will swim forever if we\’d let him.

Can\’t see Carter, but he\’s swimming behind Dan in the kayak 🙂

Living on the lake sure does have its perks. I\’ve really enjoyed getting outside in the evenings this week when it starts to cool off a bit. It\’s so relaxing to sit out on the deck and watch the water or read a good book. I could never sit there during the day and drown in my own sweat, but I would stay out all evening if I could. It\’s been really great to come home and unwind, and let my mind wander for a bit.

Got Dobby a yard leash so he could come enjoy the evenings with me.

Of course, it makes a relaxing evening that much better when you have the right company. Dan came over almost every day to get out on the water, and he brings Carter with so we can all hang out and have fun together. I think this summer is going to be a good one if we have more nights like these! 🙂

Had to make sure we got some pictures this time!

He\’ll probably kill me for posting this, but I couldn\’t not post it!! Always giggling when he\’s around.

Even met a new friend on the water this week.

Dan\’s been West River since Thursday, but Dobby and I still enjoyed spending some time outside – when it wasn\’t raining anyway! And I stopped by Dan\’s house every day to take Carter out to run around for a while, so I at least got to spend some time with the fur babies.

Carter and I are basically BFFs 😉

Overall, despite everything going on in the news with protests and COVID, I actually had a pretty good week. Sometimes being constantly surrounded by bad news really brings you down, and you need to just get away from it all. Turn off Facebook. Turn off the phone in general, and just get outside and enjoy some peace and quiet. As you can see, I took advantage of the peace and quiet as much as I could these last few days, and I intend to continue doing so.

I understand there are issues going on right now that people feel very passionately about, I don\’t blame them, there are definitely things that need to change. But sometimes, taking a step back from it all is necessary to keep your sanity. Find some peace and quiet. Let your body rest, then go back and do what you need to do. Even the strongest of people need to relax every now and again!

Take advantage of the nice weather and get outside! This coming week isn\’t supposed to be nearly as hot, so it will be a great week to enjoy some time outdoors with loved ones and fur babies. Enjoy it while it lasts! 🙂

Until next time! 🙂
