Some Beach

It has been an emotionally tolling week – we’ve all been there. One thing that did lift my spirits was that this time last year Dan and I were on our honeymoon in Belize, and all the photos have been popping up in my memories this week. I’m choosing to focus on the sunny beach days instead, because they make me happy. 🙂 Go listen to Blake Shelton’s Some Beach – that’s exactly the attitude I have right now.

Instead of rushing out the door with my coffee in one hand, and breakfast in the other, I’m sitting on our private porch. Taking my time. No rush to be anywhere. I can soak in the view of the ocean and the warm morning sun and enjoy every last drop of caffeine before starting my day.

Instead of walking through mud and jumping over puddles from all the snow that’s melted, I’m swimming in the ocean. Dan and I are snorkeling among the sharks and other sea creatures.

Instead of sitting in the car for hours on end, I’m sitting on a catamaran listening to Belizean music and eating fresh fruit. The salty ocean air is blowing through my hair and I’m probably getting sunburned, but I’ll take it. I’m relaxing and carefree.

And the snow may be gone now, but at the beginning of this week when we had a blizzard? I’m no longer standing in snow, but in warm sand. I don’t have a million layers on and we’re able to sit outside and read, or do nothing at all.

I so wish we could go back again this year. I loved every minute of our time in Belize, and I’d love nothing more than a few worry-free days in the sun again. Since we won’t be going anywhere soon, I’ll just have to keep these photos close and look back on them often. It’s not the same as physically being there, but escaping into my memories for a while works for me too.

When life gets crazy, I’ll be just like Blake Shelton and be dreaming of “some beach.” It keeps me sane, and it could work for you, too. 😉

Hope everyone has a chance to get outside this weekend – looks like it’s going to be beautiful!

Until next time! 🙂
