Six Years of Dobby!

So, I know I just wrote a blog about Dobby a few weeks ago, but we’ve got a milestone coming up in a few days that warrants another post. 🙂 Dobby’s “Gotcha Day” is October 8, and this year marks SIX full years with my best boy! Seems absolutely wild that it was already that long ago, and I refuse to believe he’s turning into an old man. We don’t know exactly how old he is, but our best guess is that he’s turning eight this year. He still acts like a puppy most days, but he’s definitely grown a few more grey hairs in the last year.

There is a very short list of things I wouldn’t do for this dog. And I know a lot of people think I’m a crazy “dog parent” but that’s fine. Dobby is my baby, and I’ll continue to spoil him like he’s my own child.

We’ve helped each other in many different ways. My dad tells me all the time that I may have rescued him, but he rescued me too. And it’s true – he’s helped me through a lot of tough times. He’s always there when I need him and I plan to be there for him as long as possible.

I especially appreciate having him around when Dan’s at the farm. He’s my fearless protector, and I know as long as he’s home with me, I’m safe. He goes into overdrive when Dan’s not home – it’s like he knows he’s the man of the house, and he’s immediately on high alert for literally any suspicious sound. I appreciate his efforts, but I do wish he could differentiate between our neighbors getting home and an actual intruder!

I had to take a trip down memory lane for this post, so here’s a few memorable photos of this cutie pie over the last year.

This picture was taken last week after his Fur Grammy took his staples out – he was pretty happy to be done with the donut! He’ll have a scar on his leg, but it healed very nicely and I’m sure it feels a whole lot better too.
I mentioned in a post a while back that we got our patio redone this summer, so it was nice to hang out outside with my boys for a bonfire every now and again. Hoping we can get a few more nights like this before the snow comes!
I think Dobby would agree!
He’s a bit of a bed hog, but he really is the best snuggler.
Our living room constantly looks like a Build a Bear Workshop exploded. I ask myself every time why I keep buying him stuffed toys – BUT he does love his toys for a few weeks before he destroys them, so it’s hard to take that part away from him lol.
Dobby LOVED going to the Palisades with us this summer. I hope we can try to go back again sometime when it’s a little cooler – he’d probably enjoy it even more!
We’re getting close to that time of year where I break out the Christmas jammies again 😉

I don’t know how many years we have left with Mr. Dobby, but I hope it’s a lot. He definitely makes our lives fuller, and I hope he knows how much he’s loved. Can’t wait to celebrate by getting a few extra snuggles in this weekend!

Until next time! 🙂
