I\’ve had a lot of people asking me lately how my new job is going, and I have to say that I am LOVING it so far! It\’s been less than a month, but we\’ve come up with some pretty great ideas already, and I\’ve been working with people all over the community to get some fun activities put together that I think the LATC students are going to love. It\’s been a little challenging with COVID, and coming up with activities where we can keep the social distancing in place and still have a good time, but we are going to make it work.
We\’re going to be having movie nights, painting events, intramural sports are still a go, scavenger hunts, and much more. I have to say that planning these events is super fun, but I\’m even more excited that I get to be there to help put them on and make sure they go smoothly. I\’m excited to see what the students will enjoy doing and what could use some work or improvements. I\’m also SUPER ready for school to start! It\’s been so quiet up in my little corner office, and I\’m ready to start having students drop by and give me some ideas on what kind of activities they would like to see at school.
Another thing I love about this job, is that even though it is not primarily marketing related, I still get to use a lot of the marketing techniques I learned in school to help get the word out. I\’m still using social media marketing, and word-of-mouth, and direct marketing tactics to advertise the activities, which is great! I\’ve also been working a little bit with the communications people to help them edit their marketing materials. So, even though this job seemed like it would be a total 180 from what I\’ve been doing in the past, I still get to do a lot of what I already have a lot of experience doing, and that makes me pretty happy.
Finally, the people that I work with are absolutely wonderful. From the first day, I\’ve felt welcomed and a part of the LATC family. Everyone says good morning to me when I get there, which may not seem like a huge thing, but it definitely starts my day on a positive note, and I love being surrounded by friendly people. I\’ve had people come to my office and tell me the events I\’ve been advertising on Facebook are really good ideas, and they\’re excited to see what others I come up with. This makes me really want to do a good job and keep coming up with some awesome activities for everyone to partake in, both students and staff. 🙂
