Introducing the New and Improved Website!

Big news! If you’re reading this, you may have already noticed, but my website has gone through a big makeover since my last post. I’d like to introduce the NEW and improved Swimming Through Life website!

I’ve been working really hard over the last two weeks to get the new site up and running and I’m glad to have it ready to go for this weekend’s blog post. It was a labor of love – and maybe a few curse words – but I’m really happy with how it turned out.

The new site came to be because I was talking to Dan a couple of months ago about how expensive it was getting to pay for my website hosting plan through Bluehost. His brother has a website as well, and he recommended I switch to Hostinger instead.

Y’all, I don’t know how many of you out there have your own website, but if you don’t already use Hostinger, I highly recommend it. Not only is it MUCH more affordable – it was literally half the price to buy a four year subscription with them compared to a one year subscription through Bluehost – but it’s a lot more user friendly, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about their customer support. They saved my butt this week when I ran into a few hiccups during the website migration process.

I also switched from WordPress.com to WordPress.org for my actual website platform. It was a bit of a headache, and I temporarily thought I lost all of my blog posts from the last two years, but luckily, they were able to help me figure out how to get them back. I’m sure I’m literally the only person who goes back and reads them from time to time, but it’s almost like losing a journal or a diary. It was a little sad to think those memories might have been gone forever, so I’m glad they’re back! AND I put some extra security measures in place to make sure they’re not going anywhere in the future. πŸ™‚

Now that *hopefully* everything is good to go with my website, I’d love to ask for a favor from all of y’all. If you have a free minute or two, if you wouldn’t mind taking a quick peek through my website to see if everything looks okay from an outsider’s perspective, I would very much appreciate it. You can get to the homepage by either clicking on the “Megan Nelson” icon on the top left screen of this blog post, or just by typing meganreiffenberger.com into your browser.

Do the pictures look okay? Do the links work? Anything look wonky? I’d love to get your opinion and improve my website to make it more user friendly.

Like I’ve told Dan dozens of times, I don’t expect to make a living off this blog site – or any money at all – and I know I only have a handful of dedicated readers, but that’s okay. I love to write, and this gives me an excuse to do so. Even if it’s just the same five people reading every week, I’m okay with that! I’ve really come to love putting a blog post together every week, and now I’m glad I can continue to do so without breaking the bank.

Anyway, like I said, if you have any feedback on the new website – good or bad – please let me know! Happy to improve however I can. πŸ™‚

Until next time! πŸ™‚

  1. Great work Megan! It looks great. Easy to read. Pictures are great.

The very first picture on the website with the white letters, I struggled reading the right side of the page. The white letters, for me, were a little more struggling.

I think it’s amazing you take the time to do this site. I always find your writings fun and interesting.
