It’s the happiest time of the year and I’ve got a lot to be thankful for this year! Living so far from home can definitely be difficult sometimes, especially when I can’t see my family during the holidays. I couldn’t afford to go home for both Christmas and thanksgiving so since I’m going home for Christmas, I spent thanksgiving with Nate’s family out here in va.
We had a wonderful day here. We got to sleep in a little bit, got up and started cooking the stuffing, and headed outside to get some chores done. Nate’s parents live on a farm and there’s always work to be done. Since it was starting to get kind of cold out, we didn’t do much. We cleaned out the horse’s stalls and cleaned out the chicken coop, where I found some freshly laid eggs to keep my fingers warm. Nathan reminded me that they had literally just come out of a chicken’s Butt, but I didn’t care. I was cold!

After we finished the chores, we cleaned up and finished making the rest of the dinner. Nate’s grandma and his uncle came over to help us eat all the food, but we still had lots of leftovers! We’ll be eating good for a few days. I had to laugh at the end of the meal when we were eating pie, Nate’s 95 year old grandma said we had to take shots with dessert! So we each got a shot of moonshine to wash down our pie!

Now we just finished feeding the horses and are back in the warm house with full bellies and heavy eyelids. Even though I couldn’t go back to SD, I had a great thanksgiving with my second family out here in VA. Im very thankful for where I am and who I’m surrounded by this holiday, and I’m looking forward to having the rest of the weekend to relax and enjoy family time, and get ready for the Christmas holiday!
I hope everyone had a blessed thanksgiving surrounded by those you love most! Now it’s time for more pie!!
Until next time 🙂
