Five Facts
This week was unfortunately one of those weeks where nothing exciting happened, and at the same time I am currently fighting a serious case of writer’s block. Yep, you guessed it. I have nothing to write about! BUT I have committed to writing a blog post every week, so gosh darn it that’s what I’m going to do. So, I have decided I am going to share five things about myself that maybe not very many people know about. Should be fun! 🙂
First of all, many people know I am deathly afraid of spiders, and snakes are a pretty close second. What many people probably don’t know about me, is that I am also very afraid of fish. Yes, the girl who loves to swim and be in the water is afraid of fish. I like looking at fish if they are on the other side of the glass, but I do not want to be in the same water as them. Maybe that’s why I like pools so much! I’ll obviously go in the lake and other open bodies of water where fish are likely to be. However, I try not to be the first person in. I let others get in and scare away the fish first, THEN I’ll get in. Anyone who has gone snorkeling with me before can testify to this. I have screamed through a snorkel more times than I care to admit. And the one time I went scuba diving, I was sharing a tank with my friend when I saw a jelly fish. I literally threw the mask off towards him and booked it for shore. No way was I getting near that thing! You’d think the more times I spend in open water, the less afraid I would be, but I’m still pretty scared ha!
Another interesting, and possibly useless fact about myself is that I have one foot that is larger than the other. My left foot is a size 8-1/2, and my right foot is a size 7-1/2. It’s not so much of a difference where I need to buy two different pairs of shoes, but I can tell a difference with how much room I have in each shoe. It’s also probably the reason I’m such a clutz too, but hey, nothing I can do about it!
One thing that I’m sure people close to me know, is that I’m a big softy. I’m a sucker for love stories and happy endings and cuddles and everything warm and fuzzy. I was telling my brother in law the other day that I even cried watching Star Wars cuz Darth Vader died. I told him I thought he had potential to be a good person at the end and I didn’t want to see him die. I also mentioned to him that I watched the entire series in numerical order instead of the “right way” to watch them. So that’s the reason I’m going with for getting so emotional! 😂
A lot of people know I had my gallbladder taken out a few years ago. If you didn’t know, surprise! I’m short an organ. What I have discovered since then, is that now when I get hungry I neeeeeed food or I will literally be sick. I don’t know if it’s because my stomach got more sensitive or what, but I literally live to eat. So forewarning future husband, when I say I’m hungry, you better feed me ASAP. Because hanger isn’t the only thing you’ve got to worry about with this girl.
And finally, one last thing I still like to brag about is that I broke two South Dakota state swimming records when I was 19 years old. I broke the record in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. They’ve probably been broken by now, but hey! I held the title for some amount of time and how many others can say they’ve broken a state record? I’ll forever be proud of them.
So there you have it. Five interesting facts about me. I hope I could give you a little bit of a laugh today. Life isn’t nearly as fun if you can’t make fun of yourself every now and again.
Here’s to hoping my writers block will be cured for next weekend.
Until next time! 🙂
