Happy 25th to Us!
Today is Molly’s and my birthday!! We are officially a quarter of a century old. And, most importantly, this is the first birthday since we were 18 where we actually got to spend the day together! That is easily the best part of this birthday.
Now that I am back in South Dakota, I am able to be with my loved ones on special occasions such as this. While my original plan was to stay home, both of my parents decided to leave town this weekend and who wants to spend their birthday all alone?? Not me! So I’ve been hanging out with Molly and Tanner all weekend in Sioux Falls, and we have been having an awesome weekend.
Yesterday, Molly had some studying to do, so she actually kicked Tanner and me out of the apartment for the day so she could focus on getting some work done. Tanner and I had a very busy, eventful day!
We got up early and went for a 2 hour bike ride right away in the morning. We wanted to do the whole 26 mile loop around Sioux Falls, but there was still some flooding on the trails, and some tree damage from the tornado a few days ago; so we had to turn around and come back earlier. Bit of a bummer, but we still got a good ride in.
Tanner then took me farm shopping with him – which Molly wasn’t too bummed about missing out on – I won’t deny it was interesting! He kept showing me all these tools that he wanted, and even though he tried to explain what they did, I still didn’t really understand, so I just smiled and nodded. 🙂 It was fun to see him so excited about it though!
We also hit up Scheels and Potbelly, and then we decided to go to Devil’s Gulch for a little hiking. I had never been there before, and it was a really cool place! If you’ve never been, it’s a nice little spot for an afternoon hike.
After all of this, we headed back to Molly’s apartment, where we had dinner with our mom, Carletta, and Nick and Noah came over as well. Tanner cooked us all some yummy steaks, and we all had a nice night hanging out and catching up with each other. Lots of old memories were brought up, and it reminded me of all the good old days when we were little kids and making up games, watching movies in the van, or swimming in Carletta’s pool. Those were the good days!
Today, we are just having a lazy birthday. Tanner fell asleep watching the Vikings game, Molly is studying, and I am catching up on some reading and writing. I live for these kinds of days, and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday shared with so many people I care about.
A quick update on my job search. I had three interviews last week: one at SDSU, two for the same position at Avera, and I have an interview scheduled at Persona next week. I’m really hoping to land this job at Avera, so keep me in your prayers if you remember!
Finally, special thanks to everyone who wished Molly and me a happy birthday, and helped us celebrate. Happiest of birthdays to you, sissy! Thanks for letting me crash at your place for the weekend, and thanks Tanner for going on so many adventures with me!
Can’t wait to see where year 25 brings us! 🙂
Until Next Time!
