Wedding Weekend!

It’s been a whirlwind of a week for us here at the Reiffenberger household! I’ve been home for a few days and haven’t had a dull moment since!

We got home late Tuesday evening, and Wednesday we spent sitting outside in the gazebo, reading, watching tv on our phones, and enjoying the AMAZING weather we’ve been having. It was truly a much needed relaxation day!

Zeus came out to chill with us too 🙂

On Wednesday evening, we took part in the fifth annual Hump Day 5k, something I’ve participated in with my family for the last three years. As always, it was a wonderful evening for a run! I ran with Nate and my dad, and even a couple of members from the Watertown run club. We took it nice and slow, which was good cuz I haven’t run for quite some time! To say I was sore the next day is an understatement!

Nicki was in charge of the camera, so I had to ham it up a bit 😉

After the hump day run, we all went to Jill Makepeace’s house for a wedding celebration for Molly and Tanner! Unfortunately Tanner was sick and couldn’t make it, but we celebrated Molly and had a relaxing evening on the porch with margs and pizza.

Thursday and Friday we spent getting last minute details put together to get ready for Molly and Tanner’s wedding day, and finally the big day came!! It was a very long day, where we were awake for almost 24 hours, but it was a wonderful day to celebrate the newlyweds.

We spent the morning getting our hair and makeup done, and then headed off to the church for the ceremony. I was super excited all this time leading up to the wedding, but I got pretty emotional when it actually came time. It was a beautiful ceremony and Tanner is the perfect man for my sissy. 🙂

The rest of the day was a blur of pictures, eating, and dancing and I don’t think it could have gone any better. I had a wonderful time, and I hope my sissy and Tanner had the best day of their lives! I’m super excited to have Tanner as my new brother and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for the two of them.

I also think my speech went over pretty well, even though I felt like my heart was going to pound out of my chest the whole time!! I’ve copied it below for anyone who is curious:

“Thank you everyone for coming out today to celebrate the beginning of Molly and Tanner’s journey as husband and wife, and I hope you’re all having a wonderful time so far.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Megan, and I am Molly’s twin sister, or as she likes to say: I’m her “womb mate.”

Since I can safely say I’ve known Molly longer than everyone in this room, you better believe I’ve got some good stories to share with you all. But many of those stories she probably doesn’t want me sharing in front of her closest friends and family. So I guess I’ll spare her this time. But if anyone wants to swap stories later, I’ll be here all night.

Anyway, my sister is truly one of a kind. She’s sweet as candy, but she’s also not afraid to tell you how it is. If you ask for her opinion, she’s not going to lie to you, so be prepared for just about anything. I’ve learned that the hard way many times throughout the years. Not only is she my sister, but she is my best friend, and I honestly don’t know how I would have survived without her.

I don’t want to talk about myself too much here, but there is just a little tid bit of a backstory I’d like to add. About 3 years ago, I had gallbladder surgery, and my sister came into the recovery room to say goodbye to me since it would be the last time she saw me before I went back to Virginia. I was still totally out of it and had no idea she had even come. But when I was awake and actually aware of what I was doing, my mom told me that I had made Molly cry before she left. She said I grabbed onto her in a big bear hug, refused to let go, and cried about how much I loved her and that I thought she was perfect in every single way and I didn’t want her to change anything for anyone.

And even though I have absolutely no recollection of this, every single word of it is true. And I’m so glad you’ve stayed true to yourself because you are an amazing person, inside and out.

The first time I met Tanner, was almost six months after he started dating Molly. When I came back from my first year of school for the summer, one of the first things I did was go out to eat with Molly and Tanner so I could officially meet him. While we were eating, he was telling me how he had recently gone to the courthouse to update his driver’s license, and Molly had gone with. When they were waiting in line, he told her they should just get married since they were already there at the courthouse. They had only been dating for a few months at this point! When he stopped laughing, he looked at Molly so lovingly, and goes “I’m pretty sure we are going to get married anyway, so why not, right??” I knew then that I liked this guy already.

Over the years, as I have grown closer to Tanner and watched their relationship grow, I can say confidently that these two are soul mates. They bring out the best in each other, and they challenge each other to get out of their comfort zones. I’ve seen them on good days and bad days, and even on the bad days, they end the day on some kind of positive note. Most importantly though, this guy knows how to reign in the beast that is Molly in the morning. And if you know Molly, you know that job isn’t for the weak of heart, and Tanner, I’ll keep praying for ya!

With that said, will all of you join me in raising a glass to toast the newlyweds. Molly and Tanner, I wish you many, many years of endless joy and love. May you never stop having fun and  always put each other first. I love you both so, so much, and I truly wish you the best in everything you do. To Molly and Tanner!”

Overall, it was a wonderful wedding weekend and I now have a few days to relax before I head back to VA. We need a few lazy days!!

Until next time!
