Cheers to Five Years!

May 4thΒ is a very special day to me. Not only is it Star Wars day, but it also marks the day where Nathan and I officially started dating. This year marks five years with him and sometimes I wonder why I\’ve put up with him for this long πŸ˜‰ I\’m totally kidding, these years with Nate have been the best years of my life and I wouldn\’t want to spend this time with anyone else.

One of the first pictures we took together!

I\’ve talked about Nate several times in past blog posts, but I can never talk about him enough. He\’s my best friend and we have been through so much together. We\’ve been through a lot of highs and a lot of lows, but we always manage to come out on top. He\’s one of my biggest supporters and he always encourages me to be the best version of myself. He\’s also been cooking a lot more frequently lately, and let\’s be honest, there\’s no truer way to my heart! He is just overall a wonderful person to have in my life, and I plan to keep it that way for a very long time.

When I told him I wanted to be a writer, I was worried that he would respond in a similar way that my last boyfriend did: laugh at me and basically tell me it would never happen. But I was wrong, he was supportive right off the bat. He googled ways to become a better writer, and he talked to his friends that were also writers and got advice from them, and he is constantly reminding me not to give up when I hit a slump. That\’s one of the many reasons I know he\’s the one for me. No matter how far-fetched my dreams seem to be, he\’s supportive and encourages me to keep going after the things I want. I try to do the same for him, and I hope he thinks I\’m just as supportive to him as he is to me.

One of my very favorite things about Nathan is that he is so passionate about everything he does. He loves to learn and try new things, and whenever he starts up a new hobby, he does all kinds of research on it before he starts. Lately, he\’s been really getting into drawing, and a lot of his free time is spent watching tutorials, researching the difference between different kinds of pens and pencils, and making dozens of little sketches as he practices. He has come a long way since he started drawing a few months ago, and even though he doesn\’t think so, I think he is actually very good at it. I\’d love to show all of you his artwork, but he won\’t let me take any pictures of it, so you\’ll just have to take my word for it! I keep telling him if he keeps practicing his drawing, and I keep working on my writing, that maybe we could team up someday and he could do the illustrations for the books I write. So be on the lookout for our first big seller πŸ˜‰

I could go on and on about all the other things I love about Nathan, but I think I\’ll stop there for now. I just want to say that I have truly enjoyed these last five years with you, Nate, and I can\’t wait to see what else life has in store for us. I have loved watching you grow into the man you are today and I hope that all of your wildest dreams come true. I\’m one lucky lady to call you my boyfriend. But maybe by this time next year, we will have upgraded that title to fiance πŸ˜‰ (subtle, I know).

Enjoy some memories from over the years!
