Be the Example

Wowee what a week this has been. I think we all knew coming into an election week there would be some strong feelings from both sides of the aisle and that’s exactly what we got. We also knew going in, it would likely be a close race and it was difficult to tell one way or another what the outcome would be.

I’m not here to share my own political views or tell you how to feel about the outcome. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion just like I’m entitled to mine. And I’m a pretty open book most of the time, but there are instances where I’d rather just keep some thoughts private.

One thing I do want to say though is this: We can still be nice to one another. Yelling at some random stranger on the internet over who they voted for might make you feel better for half a second, but is it gonna change anything at this point? Probably not. Is it worth losing a friend or a family member because they voted for someone you didn’t? Probably not.

That’s part of the beauty of living in the United States of America. Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether you agree with it or not.

And also, just because it’s on the internet – doesn’t mean it’s true. 😉 I encourage everyone to do their due diligence and research what exactly a new administration will mean for our country.

If you do that and you’re still upset, then you’ve got some fighting to do. That’s how change happens. And I think everyone can agree – no matter which party you’re associated with – that change needs to happen.

It’s not something that happens over night. Good things take time and a lot of hard work, but it’ll get there. Keep fighting for whatever you believe in.

Overall, what I want to say is that you are allowed to feel whatever feelings you have this week. But remember to treat your peers with respect and kindness. Be the example you want to show to the world.

And if the keyboard warriors start getting to you, maybe take a little break from social media for a few days. There’s still a lot of beauty in the world if you quit focusing on the negative for a little while.

Until next time! 🙂
