Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving yall! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday with good food and good people, and hopefully you get a few days off work to unwind and relax a little bit.
I’m going to keep it shorter this week, but I do want to share our Thanksgiving traditions with you real quick. It’s a day I always look forward to and this year was another one for the books!
Anyone who knows my family won’t be surprised that we kick off thanksgiving every year with a Turkey day 5k. It’s been a tradition for us for as long as I can remember, and we’ve even roped Dan and my brother in law, Tanner, into joining as well!
It was a chilly morning for a run, but it felt really good. I actually PR’d and won my age group – new fastest 5k time of 24:01! I’m not breaking any records any time soon, but it’s fun to push myself each time and see how much better I can do. My goal for the longest time was to break 25 min, and now I gotta strive to beat 24 min!
Last year, Dan ran the 5k with me, but this year he did the walk with my sister and Tanner. Long story short, I might have accidentally broken his toe the other day, so he couldn’t do the run. His toe will be fine and he has forgiven me – I think! 😉 but I’m very glad he was still willing and able to join in the tradition this year despite the injury.
The rest of the day we spent eating good food and watching football at my parent’s house. My mom’s side of the family usually comes over every year for thanksgiving so it was fun to see my aunts and uncles and some of my cousins. And of course I got lots of baby snuggles with Connor and Tessa as well! Silly me didn’t take any photos though – too busy living in the moment!
I’ll spend some more time hanging out with the kiddos today before they go home tomorrow. And of course, we’ll spend some time hunting as well. Dan and I both have deer tags this year and haven’t had much luck yet. Looking forward to going out and freezing my tail off with my man later!
Anyway, I hope everyone had an equally awesome thanksgiving holiday, and took some time to appreciate those around you and give thanks for all you have.
Now onto the best time of year – Christmas!! Looking forward to many more holiday memories to come!
Until next time! 🙂
