Rest and Be Thankful.
Does anyone else have a hard time having a lazy day? Feel guilty that you’re doing nothing when you’ve got a lot to do? Yeah me too!
With Thursday being Veterans Day this week, I didn’t have to work. I woke up early and got my run done and walked the dogs before it started snowing, and then I decided to go back to sleep. Having no plans for the day, I decided to just let myself sleep and not set an alarm. If you know me, that’s usually not a good idea! I always set an alarm – even on the weekends – or I WILL sleep all day. And that may have been what happened! 😂 I accidentally slept until 2:30 in the afternoon.
I may have been well rested, but I sure felt guilty for basically wasting a day just sleeping. Especially when I woke up and didn’t feel like doing anything. What I wanted to do was cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie or read a book. And I eventually convinced myself that I deserved a day to relax and be lazy, so I did sit down on the couch and watch some TV. For a while at least…
I couldn’t relax because I knew I should have been using that time to work on my book. I haven’t had as much free time to work on it lately, and knew that would have been a good time to do it. So, I probably only watched TV for about 20 minutes before I gave up on being lazy and got to work on my book.
Don’t get me wrong, I ended up getting a good amount of writing done and enjoyed it, but why can’t I let myself relax a little!? Does anyone else have that issue? It’s so hard for me to actually sit back and relax knowing there are things I need to do.
Which I suppose probably isn’t the WORST thing, but I think it’s a good thing to let yourself have a lazy day every now and again. I almost need someone to keep me accountable to being lazy! Someone who will tell me to STOP working haha!
I’ve let Dan be that person today! We’re currently sitting on the couch watching TV, and even though I’m working on my blog right now, once it’s done, I’m going to finally allow myself to enjoy a lazy afternoon of doing NOTHING. We’ve got some Yellowstone binge watching to do so we can finally catch up and see for ourselves how good that premier was. 😉
Anyway, to all you workaholics out there, let yourself have a lazy day! Don’t think about the stuff you should be doing instead. Let that battery recharge. It’s good for you!
Until next time! 🙂
