On To the Next Step!
Well, after over a month of anxiously awaiting news from my copy editor, I finally got my manuscript back!! She sent it to me last Friday evening, and even though it was getting late and I had to run a half marathon the next day, I immediately had to sit down and see what she said. Y’all have no idea how thrilled I was when she said my manuscript was very polished already, and with a few tweaks here and there it would be ready to publish. I went through all of her notes and comments already and made a few little changes – they were very minor, mostly just a few inconsistencies I had missed – and now I just have to do one more read through of the story, and I’ll be ready to publish!!!!!
Holy crap, it’s definitely feeling real now. I’ve started my final read through, and I’m about halfway through, so I am very confident that by next week I’ll be in the formatting stage. I’ve been trying to do a bit of research on how extensive formatting is, and I’ve gotten a lot of mixed messages on it. I’m guessing since my book doesn’t have any pictures, it shouldn’t be too hard or labor intensive though. So, with that being said, I’m VERY hopeful that I can achieve my goal of being published by the first week of June!
Which I am now realizing is only two weeks away – that is CRAZY!! This journey I’ve been on for almost three years is finally getting to the good part! Not that writing the book hasn’t been fun – trust me, it has been. But man, it’s been a lot of hard work! When I first started writing it, I had no idea how much time, money, and effort would be going into it. I had no idea how many times I would have to re-write big chunks of it, and even scrap large parts of it, too. You know how many times I’ve read my manuscript through from beginning to end?? I don’t even know, but I’m guessing I’ve read it over 30 times now – I’ve got the thing about memorized haha! Even so, I haven’t gotten bored reading it. Each time I start it, I’m just as excited to keep reading as I was the last time. Which I sincerely hope is a good sign for when it’s finally published and others start reading it!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all of those who are helping me get the word out. I’ve had people come to me at work and say: “Megan, I heard you were writing a book!” and I hadn’t told them myself, so I know the word is getting out! Marketing the book is going to be a whole new challenge once it’s out there. I even studied marketing in school, and I’m STILL stressing about how I’m going to successfully market it. There are just so many pieces that need to align to make it successful.
Keep talking about it! I’ll keep posting updates on my blog and to my email list. Encourage others to visits my website! https://meganreiffenberger.com/ I’m hoping to sell copies of my book directly from my website as well as Amazon, but I’ll keep you posted on that as well. Hopefully the next update I have for you will be about my official launch date!
Until next time! 🙂
