Well, I have some big news for my upcoming novel, Sink or Swim! I hired a copy editor last weekend – this is the FINAL stage of big edits! She’s going to check for grammar errors, fact check anything that needs to be fact checked, and make sure I am consistent throughout my entire story. The copy edit is a very thorough, in-depth process, so this step will take a couple of weeks, but once that is done, I’ll be on my way to formatting!!

It seems surreal that I’ve come this far, and it doesn’t seem possible that I’m so close to actually publishing. I keep doing my research, and looking for what the next step is, and I’m finally running out of steps! My new goal is to have it totally polished up and ready to go by June. And since I am taking more time off soon because of my contract days being about up, I’ll have plenty of time to devote to getting it ready.

After talking to my developmental editor and going through the changes she suggested, I added almost seven thousand more words – roughly 15 pages – of more details to flesh out the story. Those who are a part of my email list had the opportunity to read the whole thing, and in exchange for some feedback, I offered to give them a free copy of the book once it’s published. I had a good number of people take me up on the offer, and one person read the whole thing AND gave me feedback in less than two days. She said it was so good, she couldn’t put it down. You know how awesome that made me feel?? I felt like a real-life author! I’m so excited to get it all done and share it with everyone.

Not only have I been hard at work with edits, but I’ve also been doing a lot of research on how to best market my book. This is where I could use some of your help! Tell people to visit my social pages. Tell them to visit my website, and sign up for my mailing list. I don’t bombard my followers with a lot of stuff, so I promise not to be overwhelming! Whatever way I can get the word out, I will take it.

Y’all have been so supportive about my journey so far, and I honestly can’t thank everyone who has helped me enough. This is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here!
