Win, Win, Win!

As I was trying to decide what to write about last night, I couldn’t land on one single thing. A lot happened this week!

First off, my sister and Tanner announced that they were expecting a baby in July! They told us on Christmas, and I had to keep that secret for a whole month. I was ready to burst. But now I can scream it from the rooftops: I’M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!!!! It’s so unbelievably exciting! I’m still having a hard time believing we are old enough to have kids of our own. But I can’t wait for them to bring their little bundle of joy into the world. They are going to make awesome parents and I’m ready to spoil the little nugget!

If you have talked to me recently, you probably know that my activities for the Spring semester did not get off to a great start. I had to cancel the first two activities – one because of weather, and one because no one signed up. I was getting pretty bummed about it, but this week turned around and I’m hoping it’ll stay that way! I had three activities this week, three days in a row. Grocery Bingo was on Tuesday, and I had more people turn up to that than I have at all the other Bingo events! So, that was a win.

On Wednesday, LATC students were able to get into open skate for free if they picked up an admission ticket from me, and I think I had over 50 people come get a ticket! I had to keep printing more off because I kept running out. So, I will take that as another win!

And, if you saw my Facebook post earlier this week, I was on the news! Our Student Voice group came up with a new giveback project this year: to make tie blankets to donate to our local hospitals to be given to mothers who give birth to stillborn babies. Well, I posted about the event on my Student Activities Facebook page about a week before the event so students would know about it, Keloland saw it, and wanted to do a story! It was super cool, and even though I was pretty nervous, I think it was fun. The story turned out great, and we had over 25 students participate. May not seem like a crazy huge amount, but if you compare it to other activities we’ve had, it was really, really good. In two hours, we made 31 tie blankets, and I brought them to my mom to drop off at the hospital when she did rounds on Friday morning. She said they were excited to have them! So, that is also a big win!

They got my job title wrong, but this makes me sound cooler so I’m okay with it 🙂

Finally, Dan was gone for most of this week on a hunting trip with his brother, and even though having him here would have made the week that much better, I’m really glad he’s able to spend time with his brother doing something he loves doing. He’s been calling me each night and letting me know how it’s going, and it sounds like they’re having a really good time. 🙂 AND I’ve been on Carter duty all week, so I’ve had twice as many puppy snuggles! Definitely can’t complain about that. Although, I do think having two dogs around is like chasing down little children. Carter likes to take things out of my trash cans, and now he’s got Dobby doing it too! I know something is up when it gets too quiet lol. They’ve been keeping me on my toes, but I love them both and wouldn’t have it any other way.

This was our sleeping arrangement for the last couple of days. One of them would be right next to my pillow, and the other would be sprawled across my feet. They’re a couple of bed hogs!

Overall, it was a very eventful week! But, it was full of wins and exciting news, and I have no complaints whatsoever. Sometimes, you have to find joy in these little things. I’m excited to keep this momentum going and hopefully next week will be just as good as this week.

Until next time! 🙂
