Thanksgiving Weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, despite all the restrictions and uncertainty going on right now. I for one, had a great time with my family and Dan’s family as well. It was different than past years, but still good!

On Thanksgiving day, we started the day as we usually do at the Reiffenberger household: with a turkey trot 5k! However, we decided to play it safe this year, and did a virtual run instead. My parents and I went out for our run, and then my dad and my sister and I took the doggies for a walk afterwards. It was a beautiful morning for it! Can’t complain about the nice weather we’ve been having lately – especially for the end of November.

Shins have been giving me a hard time for a few days now so I was riding the struggle bus yesterday!

My sister and Tanner and my brother came home Wednesday night, so Thursday morning after our walk/run we spent some time getting the food prepared. My mom did most of the work and she made us a really good meal! We all ate until we were stuffed and we were in a full on turkey coma for a lot of the afternoon! It was overall a chill day, but I’m glad I was able to spend it with those I love most. 😊

Couldn’t get him to take a nice pic so this is the best we got! 😂

Love these guys so much!

Later Thursday night, Dan and I took off for Sherburn, MN to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family. We didn’t get there until close to midnight, so we took some time to sleep in on Friday. When we got up, we started cooking for Thanksgiving round two. And it was another very delicious meal! Tried some new things like bacon wrapped water chestnuts and this corn dish Dan’s dad used to make – both delicious! It’s always fun to see what different families make for their holiday traditions.

Another tradition I got to participate in with Dan’s family is decorating popcorn strings with popcorn and cranberries. It was a lot of fun and I was really glad I could join in on their family tradition!

Overall, it’s been a relaxing couple of days and I’ve needed it. It was nice to kick back and relax with the fam and enjoy some really good food. Obviously, it was a little quieter compared to years past, but I still had a great time nonetheless.

Can’t wait to gear up for Christmas, and I’m still hoping we can celebrate somewhat normally by that time. Until then, take a lesson from Carter and take it easy for a while!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy Thanksgiving weekend! Hope you all were still able to celebrate in some way. 😊

Until next time! 🙂
