Help Wanted!

I promise not to rant or whine about what\’s going on in the world in this week\’s blog post! Instead, I want to share how excited I am that I think I am FINALLY happy with how the progress on my book has been going. I\’ve been working on writing it for almost two whole years now, and several re-writes later, I think I am ready to share it with some people.

I\’ve titled the book Sink or Swim and it\’s a romance novel, because I am a sucker for love stories, and it is also about swimming! When I was struggling to come up with a plot, I googled a bunch of ideas and pointers on how other people create their plots, and a lot of them said to take something you love and turn it into a story. So, since I love love, and I love swimming, I combined the two, and this is what came of it!

I came up with a rough synopsis of my story, which was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be to write. It\’s hard taking my story and summarizing it into two or three short paragraphs! I want to share it with you here, but please take it easy on me. It\’s making me pretty darn anxious to share this with people, because I\’m afraid of what readers will think. It\’s scary because I\’ve put so much time and effort into this, but I don\’t know how others will perceive it at all. I am far from a professional by any means, BUT it is my ultimate dream to publish my stories, and I know in order to make that dream a reality, I have to step out of my comfort zone and share my work. SO! Here is the synopsis of Sink or Swim:

Brody Hayes is one of the best professional swimmers in America. He has it all – looks, talent, money, and the ability to pick up any lady he wants. He’s living the dream. Until one day, a new swimmer joins his team and turns his world upside down. Suddenly, she’s all he can think about. The only problem? She’s the first girl he’s met who won’t even give him the time of day.

Charlotte – “Charlie” – Price is brand new to the professional swimming world, and she is excited to show the world what she’s got up her sleeve. She’s there to work hard and give it her all, and she doesn’t need any distractions – not even from cute boys. She resists at first, but Brody is relentless, and soon she starts to let down her walls and let him in.

However, events from Brody’s past start bleeding into present day, and somehow, he manages to get himself and Charlie into a mess that not even he can charm his way out of. Can their relationship stand the ultimate test? And can they make it through without putting their careers – and their lives – at risk?

I would love, love, LOVE feedback on this. Does this grab your attention? Is it interesting? Is it something you would want to read? What would you change? Any and all critiques are welcome. If it sounds like something you would enjoy reading, please let me know! I\’d love to have a few people read through the whole thing and give me feedback so I can make changes as needed.

Only thing I ask is to BE HONEST. If this isn\’t something that would interest you, then it\’s okay if you don\’t want to read it for me. From personal experience, I know I can\’t give good feedback on something that I have no interest in. If you think it\’ll interest you, then you start reading it and decide it doesn\’t interest you anymore – that\’s okay too! Then obviously changes need to be made, and I want to know.

I would be so, so grateful to anyone who wants to help me out and give my story a read. I\’ll even pay you in cookies or other delicious treats! Comment below, send me a message, or give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

Hope everyone has a GREAT week coming, it\’s supposed to be nice again!

Until next time! 🙂
