New Recipe: Philly Cheesesteak Tater Tot Hotdish
I have to apologize in advance, everyone. I tried really hard to come up with something creative to talk about this week, but my brain is fried after a long couple of days. I’ve decided to share another recipe with y’all, and while I will talk about food anytime, anywhere, it almost feels like the easy way out of actually putting some thought into a blog post. So, I apologize! But hopefully this yummy recipe will hold you over until next week when my brain will *hopefully* be back firing on all cylinders.
The recipe I want to share this week is a twist on a classic: Philly Cheesesteak tater tot hot dish. I’m sure most of you have heard or have made the traditional tater tot hot dish before, especially if you’re a Midwesterner. This is fun twist and it’s so yummy – and super easy.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 diced onion
2 bell peppers
Burger Seasoning
Pepper
2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 8oz. block of cream cheese
Shredded cheese (we used mozzarella)
Tater tots
Preparing this dish is really similar to regular tater tot hot dish. You’ll start by browning your ground beef and cooking your peppers and onions in the same pan all at the same time. Once cooked, drain any remaining grease and add the burger seasoning and pepper. We didn’t measure this, we just added to taste. Add the Worcestershire sauce and mix well.
Once all these ingredients are combined, you will add the block of cream cheese. You can cut it up into smaller pieces or add the whole thing at once, whatever your preference is. Cover the pan for a few minutes to allow the cream cheese to melt a little quicker. Once it’s nice and soft, stir everything together.
Now that the mixture is ready, you’ll add it to a 9×13 baking dish and add a nice layer of cheese to the top of the mixture. Top it all off with a layer of tater tots and that bad boy is ready to go in the oven. You’ll cook this for 40-45 minutes at 375 degrees. We do not cover the dish while it bakes so the tater tots can get nice and crispy.
And that is it!
Another very easy, very delicious meal. And it’s a nice twist to something you likely already have in your dinner rotation.
And now that the weather is getting cooler, and *gasp* snow is predicted for next week, I wouldn’t mind having a few more soup or warm and cozy crock pot meals to add to my own recipe book. What are your favorites? Are you willing to share the recipe with me!? 🙂 Leave me a comment or shoot me a message. I’d love to get a good list going.
Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts, and gear up for some potential winter weather next week. Ready or not, here it comes. 🙁
Until next time! 🙂
