‘Tis the Season!
Well Thanksgiving is over and it’s now December, which means it’s officially Christmas season! Ever since I was young, I’ve loved this time of year. The good food, spending time with family, decorating the house with Christmas decorations. I love it all!
This week I was thinking of all the holiday traditions we used to do when I was young. One of my favorite memories is when we would decorate the Christmas tree with all of my mom’s customized ornaments. The tree always looked a little chaotic with the assortment of different ornaments, but I liked it better that way. Every ornament has a memory behind it and that’s how I want to do it too. I’ve started getting a new personalized ornament every year the past couple of years and I hope to make it my own tradition with my family as well.
I’ve always loved getting together with my extended family members during the holidays too. I loved going to both my mom’s and my dad’s side of the family, but I especially loved hanging out with all my cousins on my dad’s side. There’s a lot of us and it was always a good time.
Last weekend, we got together at my grandma’s nursing home to celebrate her 89th birthday. It was the first time since before Covid where that many of us were able to get together. And even though it was different, it made me think of all the holidays we spent at my grandparent’s house and all the memories made there. I can’t wait to start having kids of my own and for my siblings to have more kids so we can start creating our own memories like that.
Also earlier this week, Dan told me he had some Christmas lights we could hang on the house if I wanted them. If you know Dan, he’s not a total Scrooge when it comes to Christmas, but he’s close! 😂It made my day!!!! I’m so excited to decorate and make it our own.
And I don’t even need to say the holidays come with good food. I’ve already eaten way more sweets and baked goods than I need to, and I’m super looking forward to the prime rib my brother in law usually makes our family for Christmas. So good!!
Anyway, there’s a lot to look forward to during this time of year and lots of traditions to uphold and new ones to make.
What kind of traditions does your family do every year? What do you always look forward to? Make the most of it this year and every year.
Let the holiday celebrating begin!
Until next time! 🙂
