Livin’ In a Fantasy
Y’all, I’m not even going to sugar coat it, these last two weeks have been HARD. Between getting sick, house issues, and the weather not cooperating, I have a lot I could sit here and complain about. I’m not going to though, because I know many of you probably don’t want to sit down and listen to me whine. But, I will admit that it was hard to come up with a topic to write about this week that was upbeat and positive. Instead, I wanted to conjure up the “perfect day” and live in that moment for a little while.
How would this “perfect day” start, you ask? Well, believe it or not, I think the perfect day would start with an early morning run – yes, even in my fantasies, I know I have to get my workout in at some point! And while I love sleeping in, I love getting up and getting it done right off the bat too. I’d start this day by getting up to run with my early morning run ladies. We’d get a good 5-6 miles in, laughing, gossiping, and venting the whole time. Not only would I be getting my work out done, but my heart would be full.
Once my run was over, I would obviously go home and clean up, and then I’d make myself a nice, hot cup of coffee and maybe a bowl of cereal and park my butt on my brand spanking new couch for some after-run unwinding time. Y’all, I can’t even describe to you how much I love making myself a cup of coffee and watching something like The Office to start my day. It is such a nice, relaxing way to wake up and just prepare for the day ahead. I will never take for granted these precious moments – it’s not something I get to do everyday after all!
So, after watching an episode or two – or three – it’s probably mid-morning. I’m feeling tired already. It’s time for a morning nap! Yes, I did just drink a bunch of coffee, but that won’t stop me. I’d crawl right back into bed with Dobby on one side of me and Carter on the other and I’d fall asleep in a puppy sandwich. Dan could come snuggle too if he wanted, but I’m pretty sure even in my fantasies, he’d be up working on something by then. 🙂
If I’m being honest, I’d probably nap right up until lunch time. In my dream world, they’ve built a Cheesecake Factory right here in Watertown – haha! – and Dan and I go for lunch. I order the Skinnylicious Chicken Pasta and a big honkin’ piece of Oreo cheesecake. Ugh, it’s making me hungry just thinking about it!! I get so full at lunch that Dan and I have to go home and walk the dogs to burn off some of the delicious food we just ate. Dobby is an angel on our walk. He doesn’t fight my commands or try to chase things into the road – he’s perfect. Carter is almost always perfect, so nothing new there. 🙂
When we get back home, I cuddle up with a weighted blanket at my desk and I get a few wonderful hours of writing in. Not the writing hours that feel like work, but the hours that feel like minutes. Where the words and ideas just keep coming and I don’t want to stop. I can probably manage to squeak out a few good chapters in these hours and make some really good progress on book #3!
Finally, it’s supper time. It’s a gorgeous day outside. Not too hot, not too cold. Comfortable enough to sit outside and let the dogs run around the yard. Dan has cooked us up some steaks and we have a little picnic in the yard. We stay outside chatting and enjoying each other’s company for a while, and eventually we go inside to watch a movie. Dan’s super sweet and lets me pick a super girly chick flick and I more than likely fall asleep before it’s over anyway haha.
Honestly, I need a day like that! No stress. No worries. Just good company, good food, good weather, and good times. I’m hoping I get one of them soon!
I want to hear about your perfect days too. Feel free to leave a message or comment below. Especially if you’d had a rough couple of days like me, it’s pretty relaxing to sit back and picture what your perfect day would be like. I want to hear it all!
Until next time! 🙂
