It’s a Big Month!
Happy September everyone! September is my favorite month for a lot of reasons, but this year, it’s packed with even more to look forward to.
First of all, it’s going to be FALL in a couple of weeks! I’m not a huge fan of the heat, so I’m definitely looking forward to less hot, sweaty, and humid days. It’ll be nice to get up and run early in the morning and not be soaked in sweat right off the bat. My favorite article of clothing has always been hoodies and sweatshirts, so now that it’ll start getting cooler out, I can break them out again. I don’t know about all of you, but getting nice and cozy wrapped up in blankets and sweaters beats sweatin my booty off any day! I can already picture myself snuggled up on the couch with a nice hot cup of coffee and watching the colors of the leaves change outside the window. I can’t wait!!

If you follow my newsletter – go sign up on my website if you haven’t! – then you know I will be at the SD State Fair this weekend with my book, Sink or Swim. I am pretty darn excited to showcase my book and network with other authors while I’m there. I haven’t been to a ton of book events, but the few that I have been to, I’ve learned a ton of new stuff every time. Both things I should be doing, and things I shouldn’t. I’m excited to see what I learn this weekend and hopefully discover other ways to get my book out there for more people to enjoy! I’m also really hoping September brings me a little more free time to get some more writing done. Book #2 hasn’t been touched in a couple of weeks because I’ve been so busy! I’m definitely itching to get back to it.

September also means it’s RACE MONTH! The marathon I’ve been training for all summer is only a couple of weeks away. We have our last long run this weekend: 20 miles!! I made the 19 last weekend. I was pretty darn tired by the end, and a little noxious, but I did it! Took a nice long nap afterwards, and I was ready to roll. I even went to a wedding later that same day, so I know I can tackle the 20 this weekend! It makes it a little better knowing it’s the last long one before race day. Then we have about two weeks of easier runs, and then off to Fargo on the 25th for the big day! If you’re reading this, send a prayer to all of us WARC runners who’ve been training for this race. With Covid and weather, we are really hoping the race doesn’t get canceled or go virtual. I’ve already decided that one way or another, I’m going to run the 26.2, but I’d so much rather run it in Fargo as the race instead of running it virtually some other time. There’s no way I’m not going to do it after putting this much work into it!

Finally, I love September because it’s my birth month! I keep expecting to start dreading my birthday each new year, but I must not be old enough yet, because I still love my birthday. There’s something about it that just feels so special. Like it’s MY day! And even better, I get to share it with my best friend and sister. I may not have loved sharing it when we were little, but now I can’t imagine celebrating without her. We’ll definitely have to get out sometime soon to celebrate!

If you receive my monthly newsletter, than you’ve already seen this, but for my birthday, I would really, really like if everyone who has already read Sink or Swim would go onto Amazon and leave an honest review. Even if it wasn’t your cup of tea, I’d still love to have your feedback. If you’re worried about how I will react to your opinion, then leave your name off of it. I don’t need to know who it comes from, I just want the feedback. Not only to help me become a better writer, but because reviews help me get my book in front of more readers. And I’d love to get it in front of as many readers as I can! I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to get it in front of more people, and everyone says reviews are the #1 way. So, please help a girl out! It only takes a couple of minutes, and I’d be so, so grateful. Thanks in advance!
I can’t wait for everything this month has in store, and I’m so excited to let you all know how the fair goes. Hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend and stays safe and healthy!
Until next time! π
